ABOUT THIS COURSE

This presentation explores the role of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in aviation training. We will discuss how these cutting-edge technologies create immersive, interactive environments for pilots during flight training. Attendees will learn how VR and AR improve safety, reduce training costs, and enhance skill retention through realistic simulations, scenario-based training, and hands-on virtual experiences. Real-world examples and practical implementation strategies will illustrate how these tools are revolutionizing the aviation industry.

GREG REVERDIAU - Presenter

Greg Reverdiau has been an aviation professional since the early 2000s. He currently holds the following FAA certificates: Certified Flight Instructor, Commercial Pilot (for single and multi-engine), and UAS Remote Pilot. He has worked for two of the biggest aeronautical universities in the country (managing flight training programs of up to 500 students and 50 aircraft) and in teaching roles as assistant professor and program chair. He now concentrates on educating the next generation of manned and unmanned pilots by creating online courses. Pilot Institute has trained over 100,000 Remote Pilots to date and over 340,000 pilots on manned and unmanned topics. Greg holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science and a Master’s Degree in Aviation Human Factors, both from the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL.

NATHAN BALLARD - Host

Nathan Ballard is a CFI-I, IGI in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the safety officer of his flying club and a FAAST representative. Nathan has just under 1000 hours of dual given, and with this in mind, he is aware of how much learning occurs in the first several hundred hours of flight instruction.

He is committed to assisting newer flight instructors by sharing lessons and experiences that aren’t part of a typical CFI curriculum.

Nathan believes that while many practices in aviation are sound, we should also be thoughtful and scrutinize practices that have been handed down over the years. The foundation of his flight instruction and content is deeply established in his philosophy of “Attacking Aviation from a Critical Angle.” You can see more on his YouTube channel, “Nathan Ballard Safer Flying.”
